As a former teacher, my goals were to help my students learn through adapting to lesson plans, planning for formal and informal assessments, and presenting information to students in a way that they would understand. Little did I know, I was practicing these skills for my next career in UX design. When I joined my team at Learning Ovations as a literacy outcomes specialist, the work was more than just coaching teachers. I developed a natural instinct to create meaningful solutions for our teachers through empathy and was passionate about developing new ideas that would work for all internal and external stakeholders. I then developed our software's first Lesson Menu, utilized by partner schools across the nation, in collaboration with our engineering, operations and research team. As the first product designer of the company, I am continuously learning how to be adaptable, flexible and the be the user advocate for all users with designing for accessibility in mind.
